A striped marlin (Kajikia audax) closes in on a bait ball of Pacific sardine (Sardinops sagax) off the Pacific coast of Baja, Mexico. Every October, Pacific sardine migrate to their spawning grounds in this area, particularly around Magdalena Bay. Their typically sparse predators, including striped marlin, also concentrate in these waters in response to this increase in food availability.
