April 2014

A koala Phascolartos cinereus sitting in fork of a river red gum Eucalyptus camaldulensis in Gunnedah, north-western New South Wales in December 2009. Tree choice is a critical matter for this obligate folivore, and the paper by Crowther et al. in this edition of Ecography shows that climate also plays a key role in tree choice, with koalas selecting different trees to avoid the heat.
