Dr Brody Sandel is a community ecologist and macroecologist with interests in global change, vegetation dynamics and global diversity patterns. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Bioscience and the Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University, Denmark. He completed his PhD in 2010 at the University of California, Berkeley (with Wayne Sousa) and held a postdoc at Aarhus University from 2010-2012 (with Jens-Christian Svenning and Lars Arge).

Brody's research focuses primarily on global change topics, including species invasions, biogeographic responses to paleoclimate change and other historical events, recent climate change and human land use. In addition, he collaborates closely with computer scientists in the design and implementation of algorithms for analyzing massive ecological data, such as complex interaction networks, extremely high-resolution terrains and huge phylogenies.
