Water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) were introduced into northern Australia's tropical savannas in the 1800s, where they have since become an ecologically damaging species, as well as a source of meat and income for local communities. Forrest et al. show that understanding how their movement and habitat selection behaviour varies throughout the day can lead to more accurate predictions of their distribution, allowing for more targeted and effective management.
